13 May 1110 - The crusaders went into Beirut cauisng a bloodbath. (HistoryOrb.com. Today in history. 13 May 2015).

1202 – A large earthquake hit northern Israel, Lebanon and Syria in 1202 AD. (Apocalypse. Amos Nur (c)2008 US).

1291 – The city of Tyre in Lebanon, was nearly completely destroyed by the Saracens. Alexander the great killed the leader of Tyre and sold the people into slavery. Tyre was a city of merchants. (Holy bible. King James. CD Stampley. (c)1976 US).

1759 – The Temple of Bacchus at Baalbek in north east Lebanon was built by the 2nd century AD. Roman emperor Antonius Pius. An earthquake struck the Bekaa valley in. 1759, destroying Baalbek. 1940s 50s – Lucky Luciano heroin with Lebanese exporter of Morphine Sami El Khoury in Beirut. Raw opium from Turkey into Lebanon, exported to labs in Sicily and Marseilles France. From Europe heroin was shipped to New York or smuggled through Canada and Cuba. Lebanese heroin syndicate, Meyer Lansky, Lucky Luciano and Trafficante, heroin trafficking. (Mafia pdf).

1943 – National pact, as the French withdrew after 23 years of colonial rule, they left behind a political system dominated by the Maronite Christians.

1948 – Tens of thousands of Palestinians were fleeing Haifa and villages in Galilee. they made their way across the border into southern Lebanon.

1952 – By 1952 the Palestinians in southern Lebanon numbered at least 100,000 mainly Muslims, they were refused integration into the Lebanese political or economic system.

1958 – US intervention in Lebanon began in 1958 when President Eisenhower sent a military force to Forestall Nasser, backed by the Soviet Union, to overthrow the government of Lebanese president Camille Chamoun. 17,000 US troops and marines, and after a few months the troops we withdrawn.

1962 – Imad Fayez Mugniyah, Hezbollah Iranian military guards. Born in 1962 in Lebanon aka Ibjj.

7 Dec 1962 – Imad Fayiz Mughnyeh head of intel and ops for Hezbollah, was born in Tayr Dibba Lebanon, some say on 12 July 1962.

23 Jan 1963 – Kim Philby was in Lebanon, M16, who had left the British in 1951, KGB. He had been living in Lebanon as a foreign correspondent, he defected to Russia on 23 Jan 1963.

23 Jan 1963 – Kim Philby and Petrukhov his Soviet contoller in Beirut. Disappeared 51 years old Communist. Philby fled. Yuri Modin was also a controller of Philby in Lebanon. On 29 March 1963 Edward Heath was at the UK Foreign office which oversaw M16. Philby left from Lebanon. (Treachery. Chapman Pincher (c)2011 UK).

1967 – War brought a new influx of Palestinian refugees. A guerrilla campaign was launched against Israel from Lebanon and Jordan. (Compassionate peace. ©1982 AFSC).

1968-75 – Closer connections with Fatah PLO and other Palestinian groups was reinforced, including training of Latin American guerrillas in Lebanon. Cuba’s military support involved courts, intel and training.

26 Dec 1968 – French pres de Gaulle's arms embargo, after Israel attacked the Beirut airport. 13 Lebanese aircraft. (Gideons spies. Gordon Thomas (c)2008 UK).

1970 – Jordan expelled the PLO. They settled in southern Lebanon and began to operate out of those areas, using terror tactics to gather worldwide support for their cause. Several thousand PLO fighters settled in Lebanon and began forays against Israel. (Americas wars ©2003 P Huchthausen).

9 Jan 1970 – A TWA airliner was hijacked to Paris France, one hijacker was freed.

28-29 March 1970 – The PFLP fired 7 rockets at the US embassy, the JFK library and 2 businesses in Beirut.

1971 – Jordan’s King Hussein during 1970 and 1971 halted guerrilla actions from Jordan and he drove Palestinian guerrillas out of Jordan. Most went to Lebanon. The weak Lebanese government and army could not suppress the Palestinians who had strong Arab backing (Compassionate peace. ©1982 AFSC).

4 Oct 1971 – Attempted hijacking of a Jordanian plane was foiled. Two Palestinians were arrested.

1972 – Ties between the PLO and Iran included a secret 1972 agreement between Arafat and Khomeini that provided for training of Iranian fighters al Fatah terrorist camps in Lebanon.

29 Oct 1972 – A Lufthansa airliner on a flight from Beirut to Ankara was hijacked to Zagreb. It was released after 3 of the 15 Sept 1972 Munich Olympic terrorists were freed by Germany. The terrorists held a news conference. Israel vowed to get them.

10 April 1973 – 'Operation Spring Of Youth', the unit was lead by Ehud Barak, it landed with inflatable boats in Beirut killing Kamal Nasser, Mahmoud Yussuf Najjer and Kemal Adwan in their Beirut apartments.

27 April 1973 – 3 people were arrested in Beirut for carrying explosives bound for Nice France.

17 Dec 1973 – The Lebanese government refused to let the hijacked Lufthansa airliner from Italy land, so it landed in Athens Greece.

1974-85 – Raytheon paid Saudi arms dealer Khashoggi about $23 million, in 1974 and 1985, for the sale of  Hawk missiles. One of Khashoggi’s companies was Lebanon based Triad financial. Fixers for blacklisted companies. (Gerald S Posner. Secrets of the Kingdom ©2005 US).

Mid 1970s – By the mid 1970s the Palestinian population in Lebanon was about 200,000 or 8% of Lebanon’s population. A state within a state. (Compassionate peace ©1982 AFSC).

1975 – By early 1975 civil war erupted between Christians and Muslims. (Americas wars ©2003 P Huchthausen).

Feb 1975 – Just before the war had broken out, Beirut was at the height of its prosperity, enriched  with oil money from Arab neighbours .The skyscraper hotels were busy with tourists and business. Beirut airport was congested with planes from round the world. (Arms bazaar ©1977 A Sampson).

29 June 1975 – The US attaché was kidnapped, then released, when an anonymous donor met demands for food for a Beirut neighbourhood.

Sept 1975 – Six months after the beginning of the war, in Sept 1975, a boat was seen at Aquamarina with a Turkish speaking crew. Unloading crates of Kalashnikov rifles. 4 Oct 1975 – Beirut airport machine gun attack. Three people were killed and 14 wounded.

1978 – The Kurdish workers party, the Marxist PKK, was set up in Lebanon's Beqaa valley. Lebanon was then occupied by Syria. (Intelnews.org. Joseph Fitsanakis. 25 Nov 2015).

17 Sept 1982 – Massacre in two Lebanese refugee camps. 1,000 men, women and children were killed. (Gideons spies. Gordon Thomas (c)2008 UK).

1983 – Imad Mugniyah was head of Hezbollah security. He met with Osama bin Laden, training al Qaeda in Lebanon with Iran’s backed Hezbollah. Training in exchange for weapons. Mugniyah and the 1983 suicide car bombing of the US embassy, US marine corps and French paratroops in Beirut. These bombings  killed about 300 Americans and 58 French people. (The looming tower. 18 April 1983 – A US site in Beirut was bombed, killing 63 people including 17 Americans. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack. (Peter Lance Triplecross).

23 Oct 1983 – A truck was driven into the HQ of the US 8th battalion near Beirut killling 242 marines. (Gideons spies. Gordon Thomas (c)2008 UK).

23 Oct 1983 – A yellow Mercedes truck drove through the parking lot at the US marine barracks at Beirut int airport. 8 March 1985 – A massive car bomb exploded outside a mosque, near Sheikh Mohamed Hussein Fadlallah, head of Hezbollah. Eight people were killed and 200 people were  injured. Fadalallah was unhurt. (The shadow world. Andrew Feinstein (c)2011 US).

28 May 1985 – David Jacobsen. Dir Hosp kidnapped Hezbollah.

June 1985 – Hezbollah hijacked TWA flight 847. They murdered US navy diver Robert Stethem.

2010 – In UAE Dubai was an Afghani named Mohammed Durrani. He was the grandson of the brother of the former king of Afghanistan. Educated in Delhi India. He worked for the Hong Kong police for 11 years. He supplied Pakistani hashish to Europe. Sam Hiraoui was his Lebanese partner.
